The HOOD

The Hood, also known as The House of Original Dreams, is a work force development program and initiative of The Chester County Workforce Investment Board and The Council for the Workforce of Tomorrow. The Hood provides young adults, 16-21 years old, a chance to receive their GED and other certifications necessary to obtain a job.
This is a stellar program, lending a hand to struggling young adults who were never offered help. Sadly, many children in Chester County are raised in dysfunctional homes. These kids don’t have the option of picking their parents or environment and head down the same path because they don’t know better. The Hood gives care and guidance to these struggling young adults to help them succeed.
The Hood provides:
- Transportation for participants who don’t have a vehicle or money for the bus
- Sexual Harassment Classes
- Creative Writing and Art Classes provided by the EMTAH, Educational Mentoring Through the Arts & Humanities
- Lectures on Sex Prevention
- GED & WorkKeys Testing
- Creative Expressions Coffee House featuring live music, poetry reading and art displays.
- Senior Food Box Give Away- a monthly food give away to the senior citizens of West Chester
- Loss Prevention Presentation
- Hip Hop Workshop

This program is a wonderful incentive for young adults! Check out the link to their newsletter. Hopefully, more programs will be created to help children who are in situations most people couldn’t even fathom. Please check out The Hood!
